Important CIRA NOTICE
CIRA has learned that an unknown party is attempting to obtain CIRA User Account Numbers and Passwords from dot-ca registrants by sending MISLEADING EMAIL NOTICES that appear to originate from CIRA. These misleading emails request that CIRA User Account Numbers and Passwords be provided to validate registrant information and prevent domain name suspension (inactivation).The emails originate from COMPLIANCE@CIRA.CC.
CIRA's compliance email address is COMPLIANCE@CIRA.CAIf you have replied to an email requesting your CIRA User Account Number and Password, and have included your CIRA User Account Number and Password inyour reply, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REGISTRAR IMMEDIATELY to request a new CIRA User Account Number and Password. If you do not know the name of yourregistrar, you may obtain it by entering your dot-ca domain name in the WHOIS field at the find your dot-ca Canadian domain name registrar page . 2003/10/24: Web banking - We can now accept payment through web banking for .ca domains, and for web hosting and non-international domain name products. If you choose the web banking option when you register your dot-ca domain name, we will give you a temporary account number for your first registration. For those with an account with us, please use that number as your web banking account number. We currently accept payment from Scotiabank, TD Bank (easyweb), and CIBC bank.
Our POP / IMAP Email and web services for Canadian domains, dot-com domains, and any other domains are live and available from our own web hosting and email service!
BE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT FULL LEGAL NAME IN THE REGISTRANT FIELD, and BE SURE THAT IT MATCHES THE LEGAL TYPE.
DO NOT press the "Back" button in your browser during any registrations on our site, or you will have to redo the whole registration. After the verification page comes up, you can check your information, and press the "Change Something" button to change anything. If you are in the credit card page and you remembered that something went wrong, then just press the "Cancel" button and start over.
This is due to a post process that is used to pass variables in a secure manner. The "Reload", and even "Print" will have the same ill effects so avoid them. Any information that you will need to print will be emailed to the administrative contact. Also, do not press the form buttons more than once or your transaction will fail. Please call us in this situation.
We register .com domains, .net domains, .org domains, .biz domains, .info domains, and .us domains too. We bill those domains in $USD, dot-ca will be billed in $CAD. We have also revamped our forms such that second (provincial) level domains (city) can be registered too. Third level domains (eg. domain.edmonton.ab.ca can no longer be registered.
REMEMBER: If you pay by cheque / money order, then your domain will not be reserved UNTIL WE RECEIVE PAYMENT and your cheque is cleared.
Thus if you think your domain name is special, and needs to be registered immediately, then please use your credit card to pay, otherwise someone else may take your domain during the mailing and cheque clearing process. Certified cheques and money orders are a bit faster since they do not require clearing.
Cheque clearance rules are:
- Alberta cheques: one week to clear
- Other Canadian cheques: 10 days to clear
- US and Foreign cheques: one month to clear
