Lost Passwords for dot-ca and other domain names
Losing your dot-com or dot-ca password to your domain name management can be a frustrating experience that sometimes results in email and/or website downtime.
We have written here, two sections for lost passwords and other emergency services, one for dot-ca domain name lost password, and one for generic tld and dot-com domain name lost password.
dot-ca lost password domain name information
The following information includes the Canadian cc-tld (country code top level domain) Commonly known as .ca or dot-ca domain names.
DOMAINSunder domain name userid and password
If you just need your DOMAINSunder userid and password, just give us a call (877 807 0777) or email us at support *at* domainsunder.ca and we email you your domainsunder userid and password to your registration email address.
CIRA domain name userid and password
If you need to change information such as your email address, you will also need your CIRA userid and password. CIRA sent you an email when you first registered your domain name with that userid and password. If you have it, please print it out in case you lose your personal email data due to a disk crash, or new computer change. Also, never give this information out even to us unless you really cannot do these procedures yourself. Everytime you give out your CIRA userid and password, your domain name risks being hijacked.
Getting your CIRA userid and password when you have lost your registration email
If you have lost your CIRA login information and the Administrative contact email is inaccessible or inactive, the CIRA Manual Change of Administrative Contact (MCAC) procedure will be required to update the Administrative contact information for your Canadian domain name registration.

First download and print the Fax Cover Page and Form PDF documents under the "Manual Change of Administrative Contact" from CIRA.

Domain name change procedures
To complete the MCAC process, the MCAC Registrant must complete and submit the following forms to their CIRA authorized registrar and meet the following conditions:
- submit the Fax Cover Page (as set out in Schedule B)
- submit Form (as set out in Schedule A)
- provide your CIRA authorized domain Registrar with true, valid and completed forms, consents and documents
- provide at least a new Administrative Contact email address
Please ensure that the above criterions are met before faxing your MCAC request.

We will submit all of the above domain name change forms and documents from the the MCAC Registrant to CIRA on your behalf.
Tips for faxing domain name registration related documents
In order to transmit legible copies of your fax, please complete forms and documents in a dark blue or black pen. Setting the fax transmission mode to "Fine" helps too.
MCAC process may cancel domain name change requests
Keep in mind that during the MCAC request process, CIRA will cancel the following domain name change requests and processes that have been issued on your domain name registration:
- Transfer of registrant
- Transfer of registrar
- Registrant merger
- Domain name renewals
- and any modification of critical domain name registration information
dot-com domain name information
The following information includes the International generic tld's (top level domains) .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us
dot-com Emergency Renewal
If you have lost your dot-com (or other Internation domain name) password and you need to renew immediately, then please use our dot-com emergency renewal form.
dot-com lost password
If you have forgotten your username and/or password for the domain you registered, you can request it via email.
If you go to manage your International domain names, you will find a "Forgot Your Password?" section, where you can enter your email address. We will email your username and password immediately.
Depending on your mail system, it may take some time to receive, usually no longer than 15 minutes. You must enter the email address you used at the time of registration. If you have forgotten the username and password, AND your email address is incorrect or out of date, you will have to provide the last 4 digits of the credit card used to register the name. Also provide the new, correct email address so that we can update your info and send your username and password.

If you have forgotten your username and password, AND your email address is incorrect or out of date, AND you cannot verify your credit card information, you will be asked to provide proof of ownership and identity.
Last resort identity check
We will first need a written request to provide access to the domain. Accompany this request with a valid photo ID (passport, drivers license, etc.) If the domain is registered to a company, we will need the signatory page of the articles of incorporation for that company. All of this information is required for security reasons. If you cannot provide any or all of this information, you will not be able to get access to this domain. Please fax all of this information to (780) 665-7377.
